  DATE:  15 DECEMBER 2023  WEEK:  10 TOPIC :  GRADING OF PLANTS, HARDENING OFF AND TRANSPLANTING INTRODUCTION: For the last week of fieldwork on this Semester, we are giving the task to do the weeding management at the Pineapple plot. It function to prevent weeds from developing seeds and perpetuating the weed problem. After that, we move to the nursery for doing 100 polybags of stem cutting by using the Turnera diffusa plant. OBJECTIVE -To improve the soil conditions by reducing evaporation from the soil surface -To reduce competition of light, nutrient and water -Form new root to be a complete and independent plant.    DATE:  8 DECEMBER 2023  WEEK:  9 TOPIC : PRUNNING THE OIL PALM TREES INTRODUCTION: For this week, we are giving the task to do the pruning activities at oil palm plot. We need to remove the fronds of oil palm. We are using the tools that has been provided.   DATE:  1 DECEMBER 2023  WEEK:  8 TOPIC : PROPAGATION TECHNIQUE INTRODUCTION:  On this week, we are given the task to do the plant propagation which is budding and stem cutting. Budding is a inserting a single bud from a desirable plant into an opening in the bark of compatible rootstock to create an advantageous variety and rootstock combination while stem cutting is a includes a piece of stem plus any attached leaves or buds. A cutting is a vegetative plant part which is served from the parent plant in order to regenerate by itself. For this week task, we are using rubber trees for budding and for stem cutting we are using Turnera Ulmifolia plants. All of this task has been doing at nursery. OBJECTIVE: - To achieve an increasing in numbers and to preserve the essential characteristic of the plant. -Help in growing new plants from vegetative parts of the older plants.   DATE:  24 NOVEMBER 2023  WEEK:  7 TOPIC : WEED,PEST AND DISEASE CONTROL IN NURSERY INTRODUCTION:  In this week, we are learning to identify the types of weed. Weed is the unwanted plant that growth around the plant and it also absorb the nutrients from the plant. One of the weed that has been mention from Sir Selva on briefing session is "Nappier". We also learn about LCC which is Legium Cover Crop. It function to prevent the crop from weed to growth around the plants. Other than that, we are learning about how to control the pest and disease. The function of doing the pest and disease control is it can managing and preventing pest, such as insect, rodents and any other animal from causing damage to the crop and other crop areas. We also has been expose about the type of control that we can use such as fungicide, algaecide, pesticide, genocide, herbalcide and biocide. DATE:  10 NOVEMBER 2023  WEEK:  6 TOPIC : FERTILIZER APPLICATION AND WATERING INTRODUCTION:   For this week, we are learn about the fertilizer application and watering. Organic and inorganic is a common type of fertilizer that we usually use. The function of fertilizer are additional substance supplied to the crops to increase their productivity it also giving an a nutrient for the crops to growth healthy. These fertilizer is contains by three main essential nutrients which is Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium. In this fieldwork session, we are giving the task to apply the fertilizer on Cacao trees by using the NPK BLUE 12-12-17. We starting with do some clearing from the weed around the Cacao trees about a few meter and put the NPK BLUE around the trees that free from the weed. After that, we also learn about the watering process. There had four watering type which is manual, sprinkle, drip and capillary. Manual and sprinkle watering is  common use for the plantation.  OBJECTIVE: - T

  DATE:  3 NOVEMBER 2023  WEEK:  5 TOPIC : SEED HANDLING INTRODUCTION: For this week task, we are doing seed handling which is we learn how to doing the seed treatment. A day before fieldwork session, our lecture has been asked us to collect the coffee bean at the coffee plot for the seed treatment purpose. The function of the seed treatment is to induces early germination and prevents seed-borne pathogens and pests. We are doing the seed treatment by the method of soaking. The coffee been has been peeled until we get the seeds and soaked it into the fungicide that has been known as a Thiram and also added some water to make it as a solution after finish the soaking process we put the seed into the polybag that had a mixture soil that we made last week for the germination. After that, we moved to our Plot Angkat which the nursery to do the replanting process.   DATE:  27 OCTOBER 2023  WEEK: 4 TOPIC : PREPARATION OF GROWING MEDIUM INTRODUCTION:  For this week, we are given the task to learn and do how to make a growing medium preparation which is we are doing the soil mixture. There have a few types of soil that we use to mix it which is topsoil, sand and organic matter is the main media in ratio 3:2:1. The function of soil mixture is to provide the nutrient for the plants or we called it as a booster for that plant. After finish the the process of soil mixture, we put the soil into the polybags for later use. The polybag must be filled with 3/4 of the requirement amount of dirt.
